BCA imposes no predetermined style or aesthetic on schemes. Proposals are based on context, function and client requirements. All schemes whether traditional or contemporary derive their aesthetic from their surroundings, orientation sun and light. I worked for Battle McCarthy Engineers in London researching and developing ‘passive’ environmental buildings where heating, cooling and lighting are achieved with minimum energy use. I worked for Baptie Group Architects and Structural Engineers developing buildings where structure is buildable, economic and expressed. Whether a Garden Room, Office Block or Business Park GOOD DESIGN comes from considering all these criteria. The buildings use and ‘look’, structure, and sustainable energy use. A ‘well designed building is a consideration of all these criteria, resulting in buildings which remain stylish in our time, and into the future.
